ST182 p/s Leaks

Postby Scotty » Thu Aug 23, 2007 12:23 am

I failed my WOF due to leaking power steering fluid, they guy said it looked like it was coming from one of the pipes but couldn't tell where from. Ive done my best to degrease around the area to try and find where its coming from but i don't have axle stand or anything to keep the car safely in the air to check from underneath.
I have had a search and found some topics about st185 having common p/s leaks, would these problem be still valid for a st182? there are two different places it leaks from from what i have found on the net
The first is from a broken vacuum switch as described in here would there be and easy way to tell if this is a problem?
The other problem i have read here says its the clip that holds the pipe to to the pump, the only way to check this would be to physically check the hoses?
Are the any other possible common leaks?

Thanks
Scotty

In the ST165 PS leaks were common. In time the rubber high pressure hoses develop pin prick leaks anywhere along their length. Any hyraulic pipe maker can make another if they have a sample.
