20v Head tool

Postby Zyros » Sun Sep 02, 2007 7:22 pm

I have read the FAQ on it, but it doesnt say what is the correct tool, its just saying heaps of tools you could use..

Anyway, removing the head on my 20v silvertop, and my mate said he can get me the tool through repco for cheap.
So can anyone tell me the exact name of it, i have a T55.. but i dont think thats it?

It's not a T50 or a T55. They are torx bits.

The proper tool is a 12 spline head stud tool

You can get the bolts undone with an Allen key of the right size as they're basically six point. You can also get hex drive sockets to torque it up again which you can then use for cap screws so then you havent got a single use once in 200,000km tool .
See ya

I'd rather spend the money and buy the right good quality tool so i know that when I torque the head, it done to the right spec's and there is no allowance for the allen key or torx bit twisting in the splines,

In fact, I have two of them, both koken ones.
And have used them probably 20 times now putting heads on and off,
but then I do more 20V stuffing around than most.

Besides, the Koken tool is only like $28 or something....if you can't afford to invest that in a tool then you oughtnt be fiddling with cars 8)
