ST165 complete aftermarket spherical bush replacement

Postby sergei » Tue Sep 18, 2007 3:45 pm

Right, I was thinking (after looking at my bosses RS200 suspension) how expensive is to replace all urethane bushes with spherical items on my ST165 (at the back).
I bet that will increase precision of the steering.
I have replaced all old bushes with urethane items and I am not 100% happy how it feels (dud rack ends don't help - pita to do, might do it when I pull the engine out after I blow it up).

Think of 30-130 buck a hit for Rod ends then fabrication to make them all fit, then cert on top of that. It can be very expensive! Worth doing for the right reasons though.

I replaced all of my ST165 bushings with uretahne. It was fantastic apart from the two sphereical bearings on each rear hub. Replacing these with urethane left a little too much play. Are these the ones you are referring to?

If so I have the Toyota P/N for them at home, it is not in the parts listing.

That is exactly what I have done.
And exactly same problem with spherical bearing replaced with plain urethane bushes results in too much play (although not too bad, been worse with stock bushes).
