Of course, if you get found to be registering your vehicle as something its not, the LTNZ will get a bit nasty 8)

So just to clear it all up ..... 35% is more or less the only option if I were to do it myself?

some sell 40%'s- that usually is pretty safe with factory tinted glass. only way to know for sure is get your factory windows tested first I guess.

Yea i would recomend 35% just not the coloured tints as cops dont seem to like them after my mate was told to remove his blue tints even tho they were 35%
It's more likey you'll get home by pushing a toyota than drive a honda.

If you tint it yourself youll find that the tint wont fit the back window as it is curved two ways. you will need to attack it with a heat gun to shrink part of it, not something reccomended for the first timer

When you mean coloured tints you mean all those silly chrome ones right? I'd be safe with the standard black ones wouldn't I?

I might just do the side windows.:)

My piece of advice for getting windows tinted:
Go and get it done properly by one of the big outfits who have been doing it for years.
I do EVERYTHING myself and have short arms and long pockets, so have tried all the ways of saving $$ with window tinting, but after having wasted sheets of tint film (and half a day), lived with bubbles in the rear screen, had an el-cheapo tinting outfit burn the hoodlining in my aristo with their heatgun (try finding another one of those) I am now resigned to the fact that the only way to get a good quality job on window tinting is to pay the money and get it done by a proper tinting company.

The side windows arn't tooo bad, but as above, the rear screen is a prick and I doubt you'd get that right on the first (or even 2nd, third, fourth) - if its a hack/joke car then do it yourself (and it'll LOOK like a joke/hack car), but if its something nice then its not worth mucking around with imho 8)

Sage advice.....

It's not too bad to do yourself on flat glass, but curved glass bites
