heatwrap burn?

when first installed should it burn?

i finaaly started the corolla after a *hmm* while

the extractors are heat wrapped and smoke was pissing of them! i turned the car off it was smoking so bad!

so whats the deal? does it need to run in? sort of melt into palce?

just want to make sure.

There'll be oil and stuff in there from your skin, and probably a few other interesting chemicals burning off too. Its nothing to worry about.

I've never actually used the proper heat wrap stuff I've only ever used fibreglass tape like ya put on the hot water pipes. Had it right behind a turbo on an RX7 never had any problems with it burning. Yes it has some odd fumes the first few times but after that, all good.

are the extractors new too?

when I had a set of brand new coby extractors put in, they were coated with some orange crap. as soon as the engine started it all started melting and smoking like crazy... it eventually all burnt off after about 10 minutes of running.

yean man normal as, mine burnt for like 10-15 minutes. it said on the packet it would too, it was proper stuff too cant remember exactaly how much but was sonethin like $130 reatil for 50ft or somethin stupid

yup got it going, nah just blacktop extractors. still idling quite high tho, im over it now, bring on the turbo.

im just going to set the timing and run it, $&#$% things going to be idling at like 1500rpm at lights
