Erratic Temp gauge Readings In Hiace

Postby Muzzie » Mon Oct 15, 2007 10:33 pm

Damn thing.....

Been fine for ages but now it's got progressively worse.

Digital temperature gauge (limited spec Hiace Super Custom), and it goes up and down alot - varying up to 4 bars in the space of a minute. Sometimes it will settle and stay on one bar under centre (where it should be and always used to be). But now it moves between centre and 3 bars below. Very annoying.

Is it likely to be sender fault? Or bad contacts? Ideas?

And where is the temp sender on a 1KZ-TE so I can try cleaning the contacts. Thanks

Yep still heating up same length of time. Thermostat can't be jammed open, it heats up alright, and sometimes the gauge stays where it should (one bar under middle), but lately it's got more erratic.... Plus, i'm still getting 85 degrees centigrade out the heating system.
