Rear sway bar noise

Postby barryogen » Thu Oct 18, 2007 4:23 pm

My TRD sway bar is making a clunking noise when putting side to side(lateral?) force on the car.

It is not the bushes, they are fine(new stock and new nolathane have been tried), and the noise persists.

Anyone know what it could be?

Mechanic said he couldn't see any damage, but it does concern me a bit...

a, that should I ever sell the car, it'll put off buyers
b, that it will break the beautiful bar
c, that it'll break something else in the car
d, oh, and that if it breaks mid corner it could make the car somewhat unstable.

Are you sure it is sway bar?
Maybe exhaust touching something or even exhaust touching sway bar.
Maybe it is other bushes or shocks themselves.
Maybe spare wheel in the boot.

Mostly sure it is the sway bar
Exhaust unbolted and off the car it still does it.
Spare wheel out, still does it.

I suspected it was that due to only happening when going side to side, so when it was in for a service, they looked, and agreed.

is the jack not firmly fastened in the boot? unlikely but a possibility...
