exedy stock replacement about a year old (30000kms or less)

showed no signs of slipping before it spat the dummy.

I have been told its due to the pressure plate mulfunctioning, meaning i need a whole clutch kit.

what are your thoughts?

cheers

I've broken 3 or 4 clutches like that, ripped the friction surface clean off the centre bit, due to how I drove them, dropping/kicking the clutch, skids.

Normally you get signs of wear around where the springs are mounted, as they tend to try and tear themselves out.. but yours looks not too bad?

Cheap nasty clutch maybe? I don't understand how the pressure plate could do that. Hmm. Good effort nonetheless! :)

Same thing happened to one of my clutches, turned out that the master cyl stopped engaging the clutch properly (aka, leaving it slightly off) so with a little too much boot the thing decided it didn't actually need to grip anymore. and kinda blew itself up.Image

some people are saying its due to a misalignment of the gearbox. it was bolted up properly so i am confident its not that.

cracked pedal box on my old gt4 caused the clutch to not engage completely and ride itself to bits.

maybe you are looking at it not engaging fully for some reason similar?

did you notice any slippage though?
the only sign i had that something mightve been wrong was a vibration at 105kph

other than that there was no slippage, gear changes were fine.

might be something to look at though. i dont want to get good at pulling out fwd boxes
