4age Silvertop into AE82

Postby xsspeed » Sun Dec 09, 2007 11:36 am

I am putting in a silvertop into my ae82 liftback, and just have some question regarding parts i will need.
I have a complete motor, got all the pumps etc.
To make use of the power steering i know i wil need the ae101 rack and lines, which are coming.

To make use of the aircon i was wondering what parts i need? obviously i have the compressor, so will need the evaporator, fan...?

I will also need the coil and ignitor to connect to the dissy as well.

Also I am struggling to find a home for all the plugs on my loom, if anyone has any idea what items i am likely to be missing then please let me know.

PS how many have done this conversion

PPS anyone know where to get a workshop manual for ae101 with 4age?

I don't think your going to get A/C workign unless your car had it to start with. Power steering you will need a rack and colum from another ae82, I doubt the ae101 rack will bolt up. and you need the lower half of the colum any way.

I would just bin both of them, it's really not worth the hassle to get it all working together.

Yeah im not fussed bout the ac, wouldnt mind getting the ps working though.

If i dont want the ac, but wanna keep the ps, can i remove the ac pump, and still run the ps, im guessing it would require a new, smaller belt.

By choosing not to use the ac, will i encounter probems, with regards to the wiring or is it sweet to leave it unplugged?

Just leave it unpluged the ecu will throw a code at you, but it's not going to care about it.

You might be able to use a smaller belt, but it depends how it is tensioned. Worst comes to worst you can just leave the pump there just not plugged in. I few KG's won't hurt that much.

Does you car have power steering as it is?

I just finished doing a 4age conversion to a AE85, its rear wheel so a tad different but similar issues.

Bin the Aircon.

With regards to PS, you will need to make a tensionor for it as the aircon use to tension the belt. Another option is to get a 4agze alternator bracket and run 2 alternators, one as a tensionor (i have a spare if your keen)

Otherwise bin it. PS is a luxuary best left in lexus's

Your going to have some fun with your fuel system, i know i did...

i am considering doing the ac and ps just because i can, but im more interested in getting the engine going in the car.
Poor me huh, worried about creature comforts like ac and ps
