A couple of 98 gtt questions

Postby on2it » Mon Dec 17, 2007 6:14 pm

One should be a nice and simple one.... under the hood on the front by all the coolant, on the chassis has a "snow" sticker, does this actually mean anything? (Its a 98 manual gtt)

And 2nd which might be easy, could anyone with possibly a english manual or any knowledge of adjustable tein suspension tell me how to use it? ive got the c-spanners but just need to know the in's and out's before i got mucking around with it (pm me with this one)

any help would be much appreciated

for question 2:

does your car have a cert plate in the engine bay? (it should have)

The amount you can adjust the suspension will be shown on the cert plate, and its not very much so probably not worth actually changing the height etc. If you do wish to change it quite a bit tho, you will have to get a new cert which is around $400

yeah it does, i think off the top of my head it says + or - 55?
its just i want it a tad lower, i dont want it sitting on its arse but just so its sitting above the wheels, not as high as it is now

will probably say - or - 5% if thats what you meant?

which means you can raise or lower it 5% of the height stamped on the plate.

so a plate saying 300mm (not sure where its measured from but someone will know) means you can lower it to 285mm or raise it to 315mm (15mm difference being the 5%)

It's hard to adjust bent struts :P

And if you want to be legit, get it recerted at the new height, if you've just recently had it done, or find a tame certifier, it may not even cost you the full fee. The + or - 5% is basically to cover things like if you were stopped on uneven ground, or if you had a bunch of fat chicks in the car. And from memory is measured from the centre of the hub to the top of the guard.

$&#$% getting a new cert, the five-o are unlikely to pull you up unless its ridiculously low and if they do you'l show them the cert plate and they more than likely wont have a tape measure or even know where to measure it from.

The measurement is from the center of the hub to the lip of your guard with an unladen vehicle..so unfortunaly mr phreak you'l have to tell all those fat wahines in the back to jump out off your wagz if you do get pulled up

haha too true. yeah getting another cert might be a bit too much as i wont be dropping it that much to be honest. still has to do road trips and a bit of jet ski towing here and there.

So the top bolt in the engine bay is the shock its self? i know the springs are done with the c-spanners which ive got :)
