changing the starter on a 20valve 4age

woah could the starter be in any more of a hard to reach place... any tips or hints before i replace it that may save me some time and trouble..??

depending on your exhaust system it may be easiest to do from above. thats how it works out for me.

i found removing the radiator, some hoses and other bits allowed me to stand in the engine bay between gearbox and front of bay, and made it a lot easier to lean over and get enough leverage on the bottom bolt.

just be careful not to strip the bolt by not putting the socket on full depth.

its actually really easy to do , only two bolts, and a couple of plugs and a lug from memory. shouldnt take more than 30 minutes to get it out.

do the bottom bolt from under the car, and the top one from above, think wiring is best to get at from under also

yeah i have a 3" exhaust which stops me getting my arm up from below, probly easier to do that way if you can.

wiring is easy as it comes away with the starter and can be done in a better position once its loose.
