can i swap remote shifter to direct on a W58

As it says in title can i swap the JZA80 remote shifter for a Direct shifter?

yes but must change the socket inside the box to suit new shifter as they are different

Sell the remote shifter and buy a box with the shifter you want.
There is a steady demand for remote boxes. You will end up with the box you want and some cash in your hand.

well the W58 has been rebuilt so its super mint. and i want to use this box.
i will be selling the remote set up on its own.
if i can swap them over i will.

There may be some difficulty fitting the remote shifter setup to another W5x as the remote shifter box has 2 extra mounting bosses on the side of the rear housing where part of the remote setup bolts to (the arms that slope down and forwards from the shifter to the rear housing of the gearbox)
