tube and finn meant to be better. hence why i got one on my car. something about how the air flows through it smoother or something

reality is you are unlikely to ever notice a difference between the two.

Kind of,

the biggest difference we found was the one of them blocked the airflow to the radiator and cause real overheating drama's.

After striking this on no less than 4 different race cars,
back to back testing on the focus proved it.
The cheap big ones flow heaps of air through the core and cool well,
but dont flow enough through to the radiator.

Depends on the application. Bar and Plate will cool better so you can get away with a smaller I/C for the same cooling capacity, Tube and Fin will flow more air so it will have a lower pressure drop.

so which one blocked radiator flow and which one didn't?

I assume tube anf fin is better as was already semi-stated?

thanks for your input Matt- i did not think of that aspect. very important on a circuit or hill climb car.

any good genuine brand intercooler will work best,, cheap ones are cheap for a reason, i personaly like the bar and plate as they also hav 'inner' fins (the good ones anyway) and you wont need a massive one for great power,, also the good brands dont have a 'huge' pressure drop anyway so u should be ok.

or if u think its going to affect the radiator put a couple of fans on it :)

You realise that if your car has an overheating problem and you put a couple of fans on it,
the problem gets worse and it overheats more !!

The point is,

There is more to an intercooler than pressure drop and air charge cooling.
