Postby Matty104 » Wed Mar 26, 2008 5:19 pm

hi guys,

i have all the steering gear out of my ke20 but have squashed the top of some of the thread therefore now i can not get the nut back on

what i need to no (being an engineer i should really know , but i don't) is what the pich is of the thread i no its m12 and its a fine pitch but what size die nut will i need to run over to regain the thread?

will it be m12 x 1.25
m12 x 1.50
or m12 x 1.75 < doubt it is that size though?

any help much appreciated, thanks

You'd be surprised what some of those older Corollas throw up. Why not take the nut and find a tap that suits and see what thread it is?

If you have squashed it then a die may not wind on straight. You should use a thread file to clean up an external thread.
