adjustable suspension inserts

Postby TRD_ZERO » Mon Mar 24, 2008 4:35 pm

I have a ae111 s/s with adjustable suspension coils and damper. Now the front right hand side one is making this croaking like sound when going over bumps. Its looks as if the shock is sticking when going up and down in and out and thus making the noise or something. now what are my options? Sould i replace the inserts as i heard this can be done. What inserts are avalable. And can i replace them myself?

I was looking to see if it was the lower arms or something like that but no it seems the shocks gets sticky on the way up and down making that noise.

Yup the inserts can be replaced if that is what it is. You will need to take out the strut, wind down the platform to take the tension of the spring then undo the top hat then undo the cover cap that the shaft of the insert pokes up through on the strut.

Rev head should be able source trd inserts, trd use KYB manufactured inserts in those coil overs. You will need the part number of the insert. Im uncertain if you could get other atermarket inserts to fit as they will be a specific length and of course they woudl need to have the correct valving for your springs/car as well.
