Postby dvmv_kim » Tue Apr 01, 2008 6:06 pm

ive found this video on youtube and it says it has a dose pipe and that causes the blow off valve to flutter could anyone tell me how to make my bov flutter? is it by taking my air flow meter out?

So yesteryear. Been there done that since 2001, and end up with a turbo that shattered to a meeleeeeoon pieces. Don't do it.
No "stance", no "hellaflush", none of that bullshit. Nothing but no grip on full boost.

Without dosing, a SSQ blow off valve, such as HKS.

yeah the SSQ/HKS sequential BOVs are the ones that make the 'flutter' sounds

I realise that having them vent to atmostphere is just for wank factor... but...

is there any advantage to having one type over the other?
does one vent the pressure better(or in a better manner) than the other?

Presumably using a re-circ is just as good as an externally venting one, and no doubt less annoying to drive noise wise.

You're talking about BOV's, dose pipe is different, its just a wanky pipe someone put on the inlet to the turbo to make it go ch ch ch ch ch when you throttle off.

My factory plumb back bov is just as loud as most of the venting ones i've heard, I guess it's only really quiet with factory airbox. The only real advantage I can think of to having a valve that vents back to the intake is on AFM/MAF cars where the air is already measured and accounted for by the ecu, so needs to remain in the system to avoid overfuelling every time you come off boost.

Yeah, AFM cars hate atmo venting.

And my stock valve on my Forester is louder than my mates GFB on his STi, and his vents

Pull the vacum hose off the bov au, get the mean flutter.

Nah seriously, you may think if sounds mean but it bad for the turbo. Makes me cringe when I hear it.
Why do you think cars have BOV's? it aint for the ghey CHHHH noise the aftermarket ones make.
