3k engine mounts

Postby Matty104 » Sun Apr 06, 2008 2:03 pm

hey all
went to put the 3k into my ke20 today and it won't slide right down to the bottom of the slot in the mount,, how easy is it ment to get into there, had hammers and blocks of wood , next step will be a sledge hammer on the end of the bit of the wood , or is there some other trick?

is it supposed to slide right to the bottom? probably better off being "wedged" in there, rather than just sitting at the very bottom of the slot?

Yeah, it is meant to sit at the bottom....maybe give the motor a bit of a wiggle back and forth, it ought to just drop in

yea thried the wiggling , but theres no way its going to just slide in there, the hammering moves it but when it gets to a point i doesnt want to go further , both the crossmember and the mounts have had coats of paint reasonablly thick , could that be a factor? the engine was orriginally out of a starlet,

Pull it out and sand the slots in the x member and do the bolts on the mounts as well.
