(1KZ-TE) Diesel Injector/Glow Plug Query

Postby Muzzie » Mon Apr 07, 2008 12:32 am

Diesel Injectors.....

How often should they be removed and either cleaned or replaced?

What cost am I looking at to do that?

Oil & filter changed every 5000km, fuel and air filters done every 20,000km so it's been looked after, but it's got 180,000km on it so I guess they're due for something?

And whats the go with glow plugs? Do you just replace them when they start dying/making motor harder to start.

Cheers

We've never replaced any at work. I guess you could take them out and clean them, but they would be unlikely to fail.

I've found a new battery fixes most problem people think are the glow plugs, but you can't say with out checking it.

No need to ever do injectors unless you start having running issues. Glow plugs just do when you notice its starting a bit harde or starting rough for a few seconds (starting on 3 basically). Easy enough to test them, can either do one or the lot each time. At $20 a plug probably just do the dead ones.

Sweet, thats good to hear.

Not having any starting problems (maybe ticks over one more compression when cold before catching) and definitely not having running problems.

Saves me some money then :) Just keep driving and servicing it then :D
