Postby AE86less » Fri Apr 18, 2008 3:27 pm

I didn't realise that there was a difference between ECUs for manual gboxes and autos when I bought this ECU off trademe:

What is the difference? And can it be made to work with my manual box?

Engine is a 3rd gen 3sge from a celica.

from what I've read, you just set the auto thing to park or something... someone else will be able to give you info on it.

The auto ECUs have a 5th plug in the middle, manual ones only have 4 plugs.

I unplugged my manual ECU from my gen 4 motor, and plugged in the auto ECU without anything attached to the 5th plug.... still started up and everything!

If there's a trick to making it think the car's in park or whatever, that's gonna be a loom issue not an ECU one.
