Swapping G series diff ratio in 92 LN130 surf

Postby AE85.6 » Thu May 29, 2008 10:02 pm

Tried doing a search but didn't find anything relevent.

I know not the normal ride with a g series lsd that is posted about but here goes,

92 LN130 hilux surf.
Has a diff code G145 which according to this site http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepage ... o/diff.htm
is a 4.875 ratio !?!

Basically when doing 100kph it revs at 3000.....doesn't sound like much I know but when your car only revs to 4ish it slurps gas and sounds like it is going to explode so I thought maybe change diff ratio ?

just wanna know what beasts have a smaller ratio g series lsd diff that I could swap with or at least steal crown and pinion from ?

Or advice from anyone that has already changed ratio.

Cheers

you can get them from *a70 supras, *z20 soarers, I think your best bet is something like a non turbo, auto GA70, pretty sure those come with a 4.6, otherwise you go down to 3.7, 3.9 and 4.1, which may be too extreme

hehe sounds extreme now as is !
just want it to not work so hard when on the motorway.

maybe 4.1 ?
Im not worried about it accelerating a lil slower as its a diesel surf so its slow anyway and offroad there is still low ratio and all.

both my LN61 and JZX81 have G282 4.3:1

and that pulls like 2800 rpm with 31" itres at 100kph, sucks the fat one really, go for like a 3.9 or 4.1

remember ya will need front and rear

is it manual or auto?
my LN130 Auto came with 4.55:1, manuals are usually 4.3:1

The LN130 5th gear is higher(more revs) than the VZN and KZN130 5 speed box.
I have a VZN130 5 speed in behind my 2JZ and I put 4.1's in it, with 31 inch tyres i'm pulling 2200rpm at 100kph. Personally i think a LN130 would be struggling trying to pull those revs on the open road. it'd probably do it, but any incline or a trailer would halt progress.............
