Choosing cams for smallport 16v

Postby Trevor » Tue Jun 03, 2008 8:34 pm

Hi guys,

Im after some advice and opinions on what cams to put in the smallport 16v Im building. I have light forged rods, all arp bolts and studs, forged dome top pistons (5.9cc dome). It will run quads and all be controlled by a Link G3. I have TRD main and big end bearings coming (Thanks Mark) Everything will be balanced as necessary.Fuelling will be adequate. It will be street driven for the time being, however im not to fussed if low down performance is poor. I do want the power up high when it is needed though. Static compression ratio I'm not sure of yet as the head hasnt been flowed so I dont know the combustion chamber size. But it should end up between 11.4 and 12.5 depending on how much material is taken off the head. I am prepared to go underbucket shims if necessary as well by the way. So if anyone has had much experience with big cams in these engines your knowledge would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Trevor
