3TGTE Questions (mounts, performance)

Postby holden_fan2005 » Tue Jun 03, 2008 8:34 pm

Hey guys. I after a couple of questions regarding a 3TGTE (1800 twin spark, twin cam turbo motor).

I currently have a 3T in my KE70 wagon with a 5 speed T50 gearbox.

My questions:

Will the 3TGTE bolt in (in the way of engine mounts) and will the block bolt up to the gearbox?

Would it be worth doing? I plan to possibly get the motor and go over it (rebuild the bugger ) when the KE70 is running then do a conversion.

Is the 3TGTE a alright motor? I don't think I'd run much boost but its got to have the go for a skid or two.

Any help will be fantastic :D

Cheers
Brad

engine mounting is the same, but you need the 3TGT mount for the exhaust side as it has clearance for the oil return from the turbo.
the T-50 won't last very long behind it unless it is a very fresh box, from memory the pushrod flywheel and clutch would need to be used on the T-50 as the 3TGT unit is bigger and would foul on the bellhousing?

get an engine and box (W-55) package.
the motors seems to go ok, the last one i had went into Will Cooks D1NZ car and held up to his abuse.
I've been a bad bad boy. I should read the rules and behave before I get spanked by an admin

f#@k you i won't do what ya tell me
