Altezza coil overs suit *A70??

Postby thegreatestben » Fri Aug 01, 2008 9:49 pm

My recently acquired supra is a bit sad in the suspension department.
The shocks seem pretty worn and it has cut springs, I'd like to spruce things up a bit in that department.

I've noticed the price of new shocks aren't cheap, even with repco staff discount i'd be looking at a few hundy for a decent set up.

My left rear shock and top hat are rooted so I really need a complete unit,
I thought i might as well look into a set of used coilovers.
I had a quick look on Trademe for some Coilovers to suit. However I didn't find anything made for the A70 chassis.

I did notice though, that Altezza ones look VERY similar and are reasonably priced due to a number of cars being imported with them.
Does anyone have any knowledge on whether or not any one has modded *XE10 coilovers to a supra.

Here's some pics for reference:

I have no problem modifying top hats/strut tops to mount and realise that They'd need cert.

They don't fit, I know someone who tried, stud pattern is different, eye size is different, and they are too long.

Gutted. Will stick with Rattles for now.
Do A70/Z20 Coilovers come up for sale?
Probably not for a reasonable price.

I've seen a few sets go for between 450-600, it's not very common to see a used set for sale though.

Why not go for factory bilsteins with some upgraded springs? Its easy to change the ride height on them and if you want you can have the shock revalved to suit your needs/a different spring rate.
