Just to semi-hijack this post, I changed my thermostat last night, huge difference. My car idles properly, heats up to just under midway within a few minutes of driving (never used to get much above the bottom line on the gauge), and it feels faster all the time.

Would it be fair to say that the ECU, similar to vtec, only allows VVT to "kick in" when the car was up to operating temperature? Would this explain the huge improvement in running?

And one other side-effect, is that I noticed today that I'm now getting a fair bit more crackling/popping from the exhaust.. why is that?
