squeel from brakes when off the pedal

Postby Dirtbag » Tue Sep 23, 2008 7:14 pm

Sorry to make another similar thread right with .:O4AGTZ:.s about his brakes grinding under braking.
It started just the other day, it will come and go, sometimes with suspension geometry changes, such as corners, potholes, judder bars etc. its coming from front right, it goes away under brakes.
Could this be the pads wear indicator? I took the wheel off and spun the hub and there was some rubbing on the pad, it almost felt like it was on part of the rotor, off part of the rotor, like a warped rotor (can this happen with granny look at my petrol gauge not move around town driving?)
Looking at the pad, it looked like it had about 4/5mm of pad, though down there im not 100% sure what I am looking at. Having had noises go away just by looking at them before I tightened my PS belt pulley and put the wheel back on, but the squeel came back. It's starting to be an almost permanent thing.
Its on an ae101 S/S, just ticked over 200K

Something like that to be a 100% you should get somebody available who knows enough in your area to have a look or take it to a reputable workshop for a inspection & quote. :)

I had a similar issue with my brakes, when rolling slow with no braking it would squeek like a mouse on and off, so I replaced the old with new rotors / pads and no more noise
