4age crank bolt

hey there,

trying to remove the crank in my block, but ive got no idea how to tackle the crank pulley bolt. whats the easiest way to remove this bolt? need something to grip while i untorque it!

thanks, i did a search, but didnt find that thread. thanks.

bolt is off now (i wedged a hammer in the crank), but now the crank pulley is stuck fast - nothing will budge it :( any ideas? looks like there is an SST for it, but needless to say, i dont have it, nor anything similar.

I know quite a few guys have destroyed theirs getting it off and replaced with a new or 2nd hand one

have you used a 'puller' to try and remove the pulley?
or just trying to pry it off??

yep looks like ill need a pulley puller. the pulley looks slightly rusted on however.. hope it comes off.

were in auckland are you? im in pakuranga and have a puller if you get stuck
they usually have a little corrosion on them,

if looks bad, spray some crc or wurth rost off on it

I removed the crank pulley with one of the Valve compressors from repco came off easy as (Had the valve compressor from doing the valves on my Escort). Did a similar thing as you for undoing it and doing it up except I used a big ass crowbar so it hit the floor when I (un)tightened the bolt.
Current - 83 Levin AE85 Notch.
Ex - 89 Sprinter - Red Top, 88 Levin - 4agze.
