building a detset

Postby ChaosAD » Thu Jan 15, 2009 7:34 pm

Wanting to tune the ignition on a car using a detset as it sounds like the best way to go if im not willing to fork out for dyno time.

Have done a google search and theres very little info on detset's

From what ive read they are just a knock sensor, audio amplifier and a pair of headphones.

Is the amplifier just a basic amplifier that amplifies the raw signal from the knock sensor? or will I need to build a filter to filter out all the background noise etc? will be using a bosch donut knock sensor if that makes any difference.

Thanks

Ha - talk to Glenn (ezy10s) I think he bought a "super spy hearing" or similar kitset from dick smith or jaycar.
No filter I think, just connected up to knock sensor and listen away

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!
