Electronic Boost Gauges, what sensor?

What type of sensors does electronic boost gauges use? Mine is stuffed and from the 3 wires out from the sensor, i thought it could be a map sensor and tried to wire up the factory map sensor to the gauge; doesn't work !

would all electric gauges work on a same 3 wire 5v signal? meaning i could just stick any sensor from a electronic gauge and get a accurate reading ? (as accurate the sensor itself will be)

my current one's replacement seems it may be discontinued
