Camshafts and caps.

Postby Quint » Sun Mar 15, 2009 6:46 pm

Managed to pick up a set of camshafts on the weekend (not sure if the guy is on here or not) chucked them on the lathe with a mic and they are all pretty sweet (2 thou out at the worst).

The lobes are in _much_ better condition than my original ones.

Now, I'm needing to re-resemble the head with the new camshafts. Do i need to use the caps that are weathered to the head or the caps that are weathered to the camshaft?

I'm assuming that i'd need to use the caps from the camshaft, but i would like to pick and choose as several of the new caps are in worse condition than my original caps. Is this possible?

Cheers.

if you are only changing camshafts use the original bearing caps that were tunnel bored to suit the head or else you will have all sorts of problems
