do u have to be certified welder to reweld mounts onto a diff housing?

Nope, but if they look like ar*e then you likely wont get a WoF/cert with it

This is true.
Make sure that if you use a mig, that you use a high power setting and use at least .9mm wire. I made the mistake of using .6mm wire and didn't realise until I'd finished. The cert guy picked up on this and said "grind out and reweld". Pretty much, I had these nice looking welds just sitting on top of the steel with $&#$% all penetration.

You gots to have deep penetration! :lol:

I did grind out and reweld, on the highest setting I could without melting everything, and when I took it back he said "sweet".

ive had all my welding done by an un-ticketed welder and never had any problems, even through lvv certs, revin, repair cert, wofs etc etc. he has been welding for 30 odd years though :lol:

i remember reading on the lvvt website something along the lines of the welder doesn't need to be ticketed providing they can demonstrate the ability to weld sufficiently...so its up to the cert/wof mans discretion.

a guy who done my repair cert said he wouldn't pass some of the old welds, but they'd been covered by the lvv cert so not his problem :lol:

sweet no problem with weld quality been doing it for 7 years welding motorhome and caravan chassi's
