speedo cable electronic/mechanical

i know there is such a thing but dont know who makes them or where to look or what its exactly called its so i can run my normal speedo input + a electronic sensor in the same hole i guess its like a splitter thing.

PLEASE HELP

im sure taxis have to use them.

so you want a splitter for the mechanical peice so you can install another spedo sensor ???? old rally trip meters have them when they were mechanical

we can get them thru my work I think,

we use them to replace faulty Isuzu speedo pickup's,
but I think you can remove the cap and put the cable back on also.

They are quite expensive from memory though.

yeah still run my mechanical but need another one for the speedo sensor (4age blacktop)

The speedo signal generally goes

Speedo (cable or electric) > dash > ECU.

As in, the ECU doesnt know or care if the signal comes from a cable or electric, as it's a signal generated by your speedo on the instrument cluster.

So depending on the car, you might find that your dash already outputs an appropriate signal which you could use, when using the cable.

And also, converting to electric speedo drive wouldnt do you any good unless you've got the bits in the dash to make it work anyway.

my car is a 84 ke70 running a 20v b/t with a map sensored loom it has trumpets on the itb's and is running a standard computer i need the speed sensor to be pluged in so i can get the car out of safe mode 7500 rpm. but doing this gets rid of my mechanical one that i need. imagine a double adapter in a house plug thats what im looking for

Just run a 555 timer/circuit (about $5 for the kit from Dick Smith) to give a signal to the ECU. Haven't personally tried it but have heard of a few who have and the results have been good!
