If it has a factory LSD I would assume it would be torsen or Viscous, check your codes and get your local toyota dealer to confirm.

I had an S54 from an MR2 with mechanical LSD (I think) which was an aftermarket fitment.

Jack up the rear of the car, spin one wheel forward and see if the other does the same. Then after that go put one wheel on wet grass and one on the road, rev and try to do a skid - see what happens.

Mech LSD both wheels should spin forward, Helical or Torsen could do either so you either have to do the skid test or take axles out and look through the "hole".

I think he was actually asking for the code on the firewall that indicates if it was originally LSD or not?

yea its definatly a open wheel s54
unless the viscous is gone
i changed the clutch a while back but didnt use lsd oil
cos it ha never spun both wheels

the box in it is bit whiney so might just upgrade to a e153
unless i can find a lsd s54
