Celica with low idle

Postby 5OBAIT » Sun May 24, 2009 11:20 am

I took the battery out of a st202 celica to use to start another car last weekend. After putting the battery back in the celica, which is an auto, it now for some reason idles a lot lower at about 400 when in gear & about 800-900 in park.
Any ideas why it would have dropped? how to fix it?

Generally you just need to keep driving and it will come right. Used to happen to mine, sometimes even stalling (while driving lol). In the end, I just adjusted the idle control slightly to get it back up.

Altezza's have a similar problem, they way to fix it on them is to clean the thermostat/air temp sensor in the throttle boby.
Just had a quick look on ToyoDIY.com & it would seem '98 on ST202 have this same set up. Pay to clean you MAF sensor too if you have that later model.
