KE30/4K wiring help..

Postby RS13 » Thu Jun 11, 2009 12:22 am

Hi guys,

I'm after some advice/diagrams for a '76 KE30, I need to know what coil wires go to where. The car had a "GT40"-type coil in it but it wasn't running well, so the current owner had a mate cut and splice a few wires to reinstall a factory DX coil, but it still won't spark.. there seems to be a few random wires that don't do much that have been added as well? Hmm.

Any help would be appreciated! :)

the fat positive power wire (i think black/orange) runs thru a resistor (the white ceramic thing) to the positive terminal on the std ignition coil. if you are running a points dizzy, the dizzy wire connects to the negative terminal of the coil. if its an electric dizzy.. the two wires connect to both terminals of the coil. if its a points dizzy it should also have a capacitor on the dizzy wire connected to earth to take away voltage spikes (stops jumping the points gap when not supposed to). if you have aftermarket coil that has internal resistor or have points dizzy then do away with the ceramic external resistor.
