96 Caldina Anchor point for infants car seat

Hi guys,

Recently purchased a 96 Caldina Tz-G to carry baby,wife MTB etc round

Now bubs has grown to nearly 10kg im now on the lookout for a infants seat, having looked around nearly all of them have tethers, the question.....

Is there a bung or anything to be popped out in the car (i cant see one anywhere!) to expose the hole for the anchor bolt, is it well hidden or do i need a mechanic to drill a hole in an apropirate spot?

i can't remember when they started putting them in
otherwise get one from plunket/baby factory or seat places.

Yea you get a bolt and anchor with the seat, just trying to find where the Anchor point in the back is, if anyone out there knows.

i cant say for sure but usually theres a little bung in the roof that will pop out and the anchor bolt should go in there. not all cars have them but thats the most common anchor points on wagons. or they can be on either side of the boot just behind the seat.

another thing is often if you have luggage hooks they can be unbolted and the anchor bolt can sometimes be fitted in there. but just make sure the placement fits in with the directions in the manual that came with the carseat.

most car seat sales places will not fit anchor bolts as if something goes wrong in a crash etc they can be held accountable. it easy to do it wrong and make it dangerous.

chuck up some photos of ya boot and see if we can spot anything.

you need to make a hole if you have a bolt
some later cars come with a hook

just thought id add.. if you can fit in the roof do so. if you fit it in the floor and something in the boot (like a pram or shopping) moves and hits the strap it would be vary dangerous in a crash.

if u cant find a bung ring around some places i know theres a place here (Hamilton) that will install them for $20, there are a lot of safety precautions that need to be looked at when installing an anchor bolt (trust me i see some horrifying attempts at my work i would hate to think what would happen in a crash with some of the cars ive seen)

at the cost of something like $20 its worth it to make sure your little ones are safe in the event of a crash.

You might be out of luck with that model of caldina, We had some friends that sold that version of caldina for the very reason that there was nowhere to tether the child seat to.

In the past I have helped friends find the anchor points.

We took off the trim inside the boot where the ceiling liner ends.
This meant we could ease the ceiling liner down enough to have a look for the anchor points.
We then measured exactly where the anchor points were and cut a small hole in the ceiling liner and fitted the bolt and spacer to anchor the seat.

After looking at my stripped down shell I can see no suitable attachment points in the ST215. The luggage rings are only attached by 6mm bolts, which are nowhere near strong enough.

i wonder if the center seat belt spool attached to the seatback would be suitable?
