What petrol engine fits a 1C/2C bellhousing?

Postby Baxter » Wed Aug 05, 2009 1:36 am

I'm thinking of re-powering my Lada Niva and I have a custom bellhousing to fit a 1C or 2C diesel engine to the Lada 'box, however swapping to diesel's too much hassle.
So is there a Toyota petrol engine that bolts to the 2C bellhousing bolt pattern (or is easily adapted)?

I found a couple of forums that suggested 3SGE or FEs might, but nothing definitive.

Yes - any S series motor (1S, 2s, 3sge, 3sgte, 3sfe, 4sfe, 5sfe) will bolt to the C series bellhousing.
You might need to mill the face of the bell Or space out the clutch fork pivot and release bearing to make the clutch release work with the later engines (3s onwards).

Lada is rwd? So you might have issues with clearance between the firewall and the water outlets on the back of the engine, also throttle body if you use a fwd motor.
There are rwd versions of some 4sfe and 3sfe engines I think

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!

Niva is 4WD.
I think there is plenty of space.
You could easily get 3SFE out of Noah, that is already has every thing in RWD config.
