t50 or w series box on 3sge beams

Postby Josh » Mon Sep 28, 2009 9:34 pm

Im currently putting a 3sge beams out of a 2003 altezza into my ke36, i was wanting to run the standard 6 speed that came with it but after trying to fit it in i have come across some clearance issues, and the shifter is behind the handbrake. What could be another box i could run? i was thinking t50 with 3s bellhousin or a w series box and 3s bellhousin. What would be my best bet? Would the t50 handle the power? I dont want to have to spend extra $$$ just sell the 3sge 6 speed and use that money for the new box. Any help would be much appreciated, and any input on the conversion would be mint. Thanks

Yeah T and W boxes come with 'S' bellhousings, but I think they've got the starter on the exhaust side, which is a PITA for standard extractors.

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!

Just a question, i can buy engine mounts, gbox mount and a w50 with 2s bellhousin. They all came out of a 2s rwd corona, would these fit my ke36 and would the bellhousin bolt up to my 3sge?would $290 be a fair price for the lot? If i wanted to swap the w50 for a w55 would the bellhousing suit? any help much appreciated

take the mounts off him for $20
and leave that w50 pig alone. they dont swap over,

best bet would be to find a w55 with 2y 3y 4y series bellhousing, (2wd hilux and hiace vans with Y series engines.
that way the starter is on the intake side,

have you measured up the clearance of the engine to your engine bay yet?
the altezza engine is a tall b!tch in stock form,
you may need to put a bubble in your bonnet to close it,
or run the risk of a road scraping sump.

ok well im using the 2y w55 gear box in my 3sgte project and a mate just finished his te71 3sgte project using the same 2y w55 gear box,

try and buy the clutch fork, bearing carrier, sandwich plate, starter motor, aswell.

the engine blocks are almost the same so should be easy fit.
i'll give you some pictures of how to fit those 2s engine mounts to your engine 100% but to fit them to your cross member will be up to you.

bugger, photobucket is up the duff so photos will be another day,
