harmonic balancer Evo 5

Postby Lurkin » Tue Oct 06, 2009 9:47 pm

A mates Evo has just had the harmonic balancer fail on it (seperated)..

led to believe 4agze engines have these on it, but na 4ages do not

(1) please let me know if I'm wrong
(2) if not is it because they do not produce the same amount of torque OR do not have the same 'violence' of application of torque...

any light shed would be appreciated

Cheers

You are wrong.

All 4age's have them.

I had one fail on my 20V race motor.

The harmonic balancer is the pulley on the crank for the accessories, alternator etc.

There's a rubber ring in it to offset vibrations, it isnt just solid steel.

Some cars have the harmonic balancer seperate, most toyotas from what I've seen have it as part of the pulley on the crank for the alternator etc.
