Aristo vvti turbo---4 speed auto?

Postby Coke » Fri Nov 06, 2009 5:53 pm

Looking at a nice vertex 98 Aristo.
Do these have a 4 speed auto?
Are the turbines steel or ceramic from factory?
Anyone have any experience with these cars?

How economical? I've been thinking about simething with a 2jzgte.

I can't imagine such a big car plus auto (probably) would get near 10k's per litre would it?

can confirm this two fold.............have my old one thats if naffed and a spare ct15b thats naffed ( 1jzgte vvt-i )

im 50% sure that the vvt-i 2jz turbos are ceramic, from what i have herd, but in saying that the turbos seam to be different between both gen 2jz's, part number wise, so maybe...........lol pull one apart hahaha
but look here
jzs161 ( vvt-i 2jz )
http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/p_J_2002_T ... 701.3.html

jzs147 ( 1st gen 2jz )
http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/p_J_1995_T ... 701.3.html

the a340e trans are bulit proof man, and can handle alot of abuse and HP, even more so when you shift kit them and or "up the line pressure" so they say

I can't give you an exact figure, but on open road the figure drops below 10, around city is a bit more but still a lot more economical than you'd expect. All that low down torque is a real plus in the economy department

Just be warned the brake system is extremely expensive to fix if it goes wrong.

Thanks for all the input guys.

The brakes are weird but may have been adjusted? The dude that used to own it was apparently 6'6 tall. There is alot of travel before there is any kind of engagment. Not mushy or sloppy just takes a bit to get them to work.

Any thoughts?

pads, check the front and back ones
most likely worn
and give the fulid a once over/change

you will find that once you change these things the pedal feel will be 100 times betterererrrr

Nice dude. I want one of those as well.
How much are you getting that one for?

They are 4 speed autos and as stated they are paddle shift (well buttons on the steering wheel)
From what I've read they are ceramic turbos.

JZ161's have upgraded to a more expensive to repair electrics system no more nitrogen setup

My JZS161 runs .9 bar stock

Paddle shift drives as good as a manual

Aisin A340E 4 Speed Auto. I think only V300 Vertex comes with Paddle shifters and also it comes with four wheel steering as well. Some buy Tom's lock bar to disable the rear wheels turning. They don't come with LSD. They have plenty of torque from low down. Turbos are most probably ceramic, same as JDM supra. I believe on US Spec supra came with steel. I don't see the point in screwing around with upping the boost and damaging the turbos as such. They are a nice VIP cruiser with plenty of power from factory.

There is a nice blue one on trademe. V300 Vertex with full leather.

Brake pedal travel could be normal. I have the same thing with my Celsior. They have a bit of travel, this is normal as have been verified by Toyota. So that Aristo might have the same thing. Could be normal.
