Removing gear selection cable off 3sgte

Postby loudstealthGT-Four » Sun Dec 06, 2009 12:18 am

Ok so I am removing engine and gearbox from my celica gt4 st185 and I'm pretty frustrated because I've only got one bolt left to undo and I can drop it out.

So i've taken the cables off the GB but there is a bracket with three bolts in it and I've managed to take two of them out but the one that turn me upside down is the bolt that directly underneath one of the cables, I can't get it

can someone tell me how I disconnect the cables from the gearbox/engine

thanks

Theres some clips that slide hold them in place. You need to put out those clips (which are in pretty tight) with some plyers.

At the top of this image:

See where 53 is pointing? Just up from that, you can see the bracket holding the cable, and a flat top peice? Thats the bit you need to pull out.

EDIT: Heres another pic, you can see it quite clearly pointed out with the top arrow

Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

grab a pair of pliers and go wiggle wiggle. Don't lose them unless you don't plan on changing gears ever again.

Yes I've learnt it the hard way, lol @ driving home in 3rd gear only.
No "stance", no "hellaflush", none of that bullshit. Nothing but no grip on full boost.
