hiace gauges

Postby 79rolla » Tue Jan 12, 2010 10:20 am

hey im having a bit of a problem with the gauge cluster on my perents hiace

for a little background iv just compleated replacing the head gasket, (witch a kunt but thats a diferent story)
and the motor was replaced a few months ago

scynce the motor was replacd the tacho hasint worked witch is no issue

but not its back togeather again the temp gauge sits on full the moment you turn it on, the fule gauge sits on empty and the tacho does nothing at idol but jumps way up in the rev range the moment you give it a few revs

the temp gauge drops when unpluged from the temp sensor and sits on dead cold with key on but not running

is there any comon problems that could cause this??

Missing earth will cause this. The cluster may not be getting its regulated voltage.
Check all your earth connection and anything that you unplugged during your repairs

same motor thatt was in it b4 head gasket blue but we didint chang the injector pump ect wen we swaped motors, hence the techo not working..

but its sorted out now, there was an earth wier not connected couming out of the loom so bolted that on and walah!!

confusing because there was still an earth from the block to the chassis but oh well its sused now
