longer throttle cable?

Postby deaf_rattle » Sun Mar 14, 2010 8:45 pm

Since i have gone front facing intake manifold, ill need longer cables.
The throttle cable is easy.. ill take my spare one in to autostop with new measurements and ask them to make one.

The auto one however, is a little more tricky, it involves dropping the auto trans sump to swap over.
I dont really want to do this until the car is going and i can get it on a hoist.

I was thinking i could cut the cable and get an extension made up to suit and then join it with something similiar to those block terminal connectors (obviously not using one of those connectors)

is there something suitable for doing this? or is this a stupid idea?

cheers

I've actually seen a cable joined in that manner, it does work reasonably well. Just wouldn't do it permanently.

yeah we had a beat up old scooter at the workshop for a while that used one of those chocolate block terminal type of things to hold the throttle cable together, worked fine

sweet as, might have to hit up autostop or some sort of bike shop and see if they can supply one.

its just temp until i get the car going and up on a hoist.
