Dimension between AE101 GZE Front Wheel Bearings

Postby Allister S » Thu Apr 15, 2010 2:32 pm

Hey,

I'm after the dimension between the Wheel bearing inner faces (Outer bearing race) on a AE101 GTZ Levin/Trueno. Or the distance between the faces on the hub that the Axle nut sits on.

This is easy to measure with a tape measure when the engine/gearbox/axles are out but the hubs are set back in position on the lower arms.

Anyone got the engine out of their GTZ at the moment?? I would be happy to come and do the measurement on someones car (in Aucks anyway).

Thanks, Al

I have both AE101 GTZ Trueno axles that I replaced for new items sitting in my basement at the moment, don't suppose taking measurements from those are any good for you?

Nope needs to really be done taking the measurement from the car as measuring the axles will not give the measurement of how far the inner cv's sit inside the housing when installed (what Alister is trying to work out for his AE82 ;))

What about if given track difference from official figures for AE101 - AE82?

Here is what I know:
AE92 is 1455mm (GTZ)
AE92 is 1445mm (GT)
AE101 is 1470mm (GTZ)
So there is already 25mm difference between AE101 GTZ and AE92 GT.
Saying that, in practice you can use AE111 shafts in AE82 (as I have done it before), and it gets full swing without binding.

Ok, the reason for needing this measurement is I'm using AE92 GTZ knuckles, hubs, struts and the lower ball joint - so no longer standard AE82.

So after running an E52 and AE92 GZE shafts for years I don't know if going to the AE101 E58 and shafts will also work (or not).

Were all the AE101 GZE cars Superstrut?

Thanks Sergei I have also found that the Front Track certainly increased over the years although some is just wheel offset...

AE82 1425-1435mm depending on wheel offsets (ET45 or 39)
AE92 1435-1445mm again depending on wheels fitted
AE101 1460 for a GT but 1470 for Superstrut suspensions??? Not sure on 101 wheel offsets??

Is this mainly wheel/hub differences or are the wheel bearings getting a lot further apart (if so, by how much?)?

Distance between the wheel bearings and CV plunge is the only "true" issue.

Anyone got the lengths of the AE92 and AE101GZE shafts from a Toyota manual??? They're usually mentioned in there with a tolerence?
