1KZ-TE Wiring

Postby KE25-KP30 » Tue May 25, 2010 5:05 pm

Hey guys,
Just toying up ideas for a 1KZ-TE swap and wondering if anyone has had any experience with wiring them up etc? Have they got any funky stuff going on? i.e Will they go easily enough into something that's already diesel? No special fuel pumps or what not? Plan would be to stick with stock auto trans also.

Cheers,
Kent :D

Conversion will be similar to for an petrol EFI engine swap, the only thing that you don't need to modify fuel lines or anything fuel tank related.
The KZ will have extra wires and loom, as well as ECU. The fuel pump is on the engine, it can also be converted to manual pump (pricey and not really an advantage).

If the vehicle in question came out with a 2LTE such as a LX90 then this would be reasonably easily and you would probably only need to sway a few pins around

Other than that I got nothin

I do know a fellow who drove a 1KZTE chaser and said it was awesome

Im doing it right now converting my LN61 Surf previously 2L-T to a 1kz-te from a KZN130 surf

And there's alot of wires! ive gone through the entire loom and cut out what is in necessary. Powering up the engine ecu is easy

Biggest issue i found was that in running the R152 from the kzn130 surf that has a electronic speedo and electronic push button 4x4 engagement. Meaning there's another ecu for the 4x4 and i had to swap the entire dash consule to work with the 1kz speedo

Lots of soldering and joining, splicing into the existing loom with swapping the speedo consule

Its not quite going yet but i would certainly recommend it if you understand auto-electrical and have a bit of time on your hands its achievable

That's good to hear, thanks for all the replies.

The car in question is a '64 Mercedes which is diesel at the moment and getting harder and harder to start, so the thought was a 1KZ and 2WD auto combo out of a Hiace. Have to look into costs etc etc but thanks for the heads up!
