auto guage water temp wiring

Postby touge_ae101 » Thu Jun 17, 2010 2:25 pm

hey guys trying to get this up and going but can't find any instructions online.

this is what the guage looks like.
http://www.autogauge.com.tw/web/product ... 037SWL.jpg

got a genuine autoguage sender which has two wires coming out of it; black and white.

the guage has 3 wires that are labelled 'water' (from what i found online). these are the ones i'm having trouble with i got the illumination sorted.
they are red, black and green.

i have tried heaps of combinations but can't get it to read anything. so it wouild be much appreciated if someone can either remember how they wired theirs up or had the instructions lying around? - i really need to get this going by the weekend.

I would assume the gauge would have a switched +12v wire, gnd wire and a signal wire. The sender would usually be wired to the signal wire and grounded at the same point as the gauge.

yeah it has three wires for +12, gnd and illuminiation but then another 3 for the sender. i assumed the black or green would be grounded at the sensor/engine and the red connects to the white one of the sender and whatever (black/green wasn't used on ground) be connected to the black wire on the sender.

have tried it with all the combinations which make sense to me.
