2JZGTE VVti intake prob

Postby TRD_TOY » Sun Jun 20, 2010 10:34 pm

hi guys

i have a bolt on intake pipe (which has a fitting for the MAF) and a SARD filter for my Aristo, it runs like crap when i first start the car up, idle was really low and when i would accelerate ( not boosting ) it felt like a massive flat spot and struggled to speed up. Once warm it would run sweet...i thought it could have been a dirty air filter so bought a new one but same thing......have tried an ECU reset but same thing...

any ideas what it could be???

have gone back to standard air box and after market drop in filter for now.

Have you tried cleaning the MAF sensor?

I did that on my one and it smoothed it out nicely.

Don't mechanically clean them though, just spray them. Repco sells MAF sensor cleaner.

Now that you are back with the factory airbox is it still doing it?

I know this may seem silly, but you didnt accidentally bolt the sensor in backwards?

Seems strange that its fine once it warms up though

It'll be because the revised intake causes turbulence in through the MAF sensor.

Happens to pretty much all Toyotas with that style of intake unfortunately.
