7afte, what ECU to run?

Postby LoRolla » Mon Jan 10, 2011 4:28 pm

Hey guys, have recently got a ke70 wagon running a 7afe that has been turbo'd...

Is running stock 7afe ECU with GT starlet injectors and Map sensored on 9psi

I get some sort of boost/fuel cut when i put my foot down. Where should i be looking?

P.S has slightly better fuel pump than stock 7afe, But stock ke70 fuel tank and i think stock fuel lines 8O

OMG stock fuel tank and lines? Thats gonna be a big headache! It must be running out of fuel. The Ke70 fuel line are terribly small even for a stock 4age and the fuel tank is not baffled or anything. The big one would be to upgrade your fuel and return lines and get a surge tank setup asap. No fuel kills engines fast!

Yea my thoughts so far aswell.

I was told it had injected fuel lines from tank to pump and then injected lines upfront to the fuel rail (im being lazy and should just measure them to be sure). It must be a fuel problem though because i cant get boost cut can I? (with a non turbo ECU)

Edit: So am i safe with the stock 7afe ECU and GT starlet injectors? just beef up fuel?

Just run a new line for the EFI, and use the carby one as a return if its not been done. I would imagine that the 7AFE ECU will be making it run quite rich with bigger injectors. You might be able to get away with a piggy back like an SAFC etc, but really the safest way is to get a Link.

I can get good wiffs of fuel when im driving. Is that a sign it may be getting enough fuel?

Edit: Is there a quick way to check if its leaning out?

Last time i checked them (about a week ago) they came out quite wet, im assuming the "wet" is fuel... But then again that was after a compression test so may have been left over fuel from each cylinder during testing.

what signs will a leaning out motor give to the plugs?

They were more light browny/grey and just your average looking plug.

By super white you mean snow white aye?
