4AGE st - what's the plug??

Postby stalker » Mon Jan 31, 2011 4:14 pm

Quick question, what is the 20V "OSV" plug??

I don't have a pic as yet, but it's the one that sits at the front left hand side of the 4AGE 20v cylinder head. (in front wheel drive format)

From google it looks like it's the "oil control valve" for the vvt, but I thought the ST's didn't have that?? (highly likely I'm wrong  )

Also, does anyone know what voltage it runs at? And is it safe to pump 12v throu it? Or is it ghey and must be 5v or something??

Cheers

I don't know what a OSV is but that in the picture is the camshaft timing oil control valve, marked "VVT" on the ecu pinout (Yes silver tops have VVT), its just a solenoid so you can sick 12v across it, to operate it.

Sweeeet! Thanks Rick! :D

Yea, I have a 20v book and in the exploded diagram of the engine parts it had that listed as a OSV lol.

looks like you have adjustable cam gears which render vvt inoperable so theres no point having it connected anyway

Unless it's an adjustable vvt pulley which it looks like it could be.
