Who here has a GT4 gearbox to look at?

Postby strx7 » Mon Feb 07, 2011 10:00 am

can be in the car or out of the car.

this page here says the E154 from the St205 is easily identified by the rubber vent below the shifter fork. is the true? is the E154 the only GT4 box that has this? if someone has an E150 or E151 does your box not have this vent?

the E150 and E151 definitely don't have that extra rubber piece about 100mm below the clutch-fork.

Oh true. That means the brand new GT4 box that I scored off toyota a few years back is actually a E154, not an E150 as I had originally thought.........
CHUR AS BRO, thanks for confirming it. That means I will have E154 up for sale late this year that has only seen 150-200 km of use

The other way to check is to see whether it has the FWD selector on the transfer case

brand new gearboxes dont have transfer boxes attached to them. it currently does have an ST205 transfer box on it as i got one of trade me a while back, lack of fwd selector was how i made sure it was an ST205

Ah I see. I was hoping to cover the possibility that Toyota updated the bellhousings on all E15*F boxes to include that vent, creating the possibility of having a E150F that looks like a E154F. It might be worth doing a ratio check to be sure (if you do enough rotations you should be able to get sufficient accuracy to tell the difference in 3rd or 4th gears)

I bought a brand new ST205 transfer off TNZ a few years back. Damn cheap from memory. Probably intended to go with the box you bought.

AFAIK my website is right about the vent but I guess ST215 have the vent too?
