4AGE sensor info

Postby Vertigo » Sun May 22, 2011 3:08 pm

hey guys, following a thread in open discussion, i want to make a little module that takes various sensor input (engine temp, oil pressure, vital things really) and gives simple alarms if the values go out of the norm. ive done some arduino tinkering, and have one lying around, so figure why not use that as a base.

anyone got info as to what kind of signal the ecu sends to the dash with regards to these kinds of sensors?

Most likely none at all in the older 4AGEs. As far as i'm aware the oil pressure switch, water temp guage and battery charge light all get wired directly to their senders and the ECU uses its own seperate water temp sensor.

The info for battery voltage, water temp, intake temp and rpm etc will be in the datastream at the diagnostics connector, but you'll need to figure out the format and interface hardware for yourself.
Reality: A nasty hallucination that is caused by excess blood in the alcohol stream.

ok, so youre thinking theyd be just a variable voltage? if so, perfect.
